Enrique is an experienced aviation consultant focused on commercial aircraft and engine leasing, remarketing, and trading. With over 40 years in the business, he has worked closely with lessors, airlines and investors, bringing deep market knowledge and strong commercial judgment.
What got us into this business
Enrique Abeledo is the founder and managing director of Transaire Consulting, He started the company shortly after leaving his Head of Aircraft Trading position with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) in 2023, where he enjoyed a very successful 20-year career. Enrique’s passion for aviation started when he was 20. With a fresh private pilots’ license in hand, he became fascinated with commercial and WW2 aviation, until one day he came across the last surviving DC-3 in the civil register of his native Argentina. The DC-3 had operated for the Argentine branch of the Ford Motor Company and was about to be torn down for scrap metal. Although already then the model was obsolete for economic operation, this DC-3 had a plush VIP interior equipped with panoramic windows, swivelling chairs, mahogany cabinetry and a full bar. Quite uncertain of what he would do with an iconic aircraft of such size and historic relevance, Enrique went against the advice of several seasoned aviator friends and bought it. Something inside was telling him it was the right move. Time proved his instinct was right when a year later he sold the DC-3 to an Irish preservation society at four times the price he had originally paid. This sparked the beginning of a very successful aircraft trading career. Fast forward to the year 2000 and many aviation transactions later, when Enrique had an exclusive mandate to sell three Twin Otter aircraft on behalf of an oil and gas contractor. It was through an ad in Trade-A-Plane that he met the founder of NAC, who ended up buying the Twin Otters and was very pleased with the way Enrique had conducted business. A job offer to join the NAC’s HQ in Denmark followed soon. It was in this position that Enrique learned everything about aircraft leasing and started trading much bigger aircraft like Boeing 737s and A320s. His market-facing role helped him build a very robust business network. What had started as a marketing job in a small family business, ended up becoming a senior aircraft trading role on what eventually became world’s largest regional aircraft lessor. Over the years, Enrique has placed, sourced and restructured over 250 transport aircraft in five different continents. Following the pandemic, the NAC business was sold to another leasing company from the Middle East and Enrique decided to start his own consulting business in Denmark using the same name his original company in Argentina had: Transaire (hint: that’s the origin of the “e” at the end of the name). This new venture quickly confirmed that passion, dedication, discipline, customer focus and a broad professional network are the formula for success in the aviation industry..
